Helium is a non-renewable natural resource that is recovered from natural gas deposits found in only a few locations around the world. These non-renewable quantities are being depleted rapidly.

Due to this depleting resource, it is the policy of Kalamazoo College that helium is only used for industrial, research or educational purposes and prohibits the use of helium for decorative or recreational purposes.
