The Climate Action Plan Committee hosted a community forum in Week 1 to introduce K College’s updated 5-year Climate Action Plan.
A short presentation outlining the goals of the Climate Action Plan was given by Committee leaders: Susan Lindemann presented on resource conservation; Richard Koenig on the academic application of the plan; and Sara Stockwood and Brian Dietz on the relation of the plan to campus culture and student life.
The presentation came during a week in which over 50 faculty members participated in a Global Climate Teach-In, dedicating class time across all disciplines to educate students on climate and climate-change related issues.
A large part of the forum also centered around open discussion and questions. The students in attendance asked thoughtful questions about funding for the plan, personal actions on resource conservation, and the implications for green spaces and environmental education on campus.
